Underground Line Locator Services
Encompass Inspections was contacted by a local contractor at the Henry Mayo hospital in Santa Clarita, California. The contractor needed to demo concrete slabs and add conduits as part of their scope of work. We were called to find any type of underground utility that was in their area of work.
How We Responded
A utility locate technician was dispatched from Encompass Inspections Southern California office and arrived on the jobsite in Henry Mayo Hospital in Santa Clarita Ca, within 48 hours of the project request. After a quick site meeting, the technician was able to locate all of the existing subsurface utility lines and clearly mark them in the appropriate paint colors.
Results We Delivered
The technician armed with a Ground Penetrating Radar system and a Radio Detection utility locator revealed existing water pipes, electrical conduits, communication lines, and a gas line. Upon completing the GPR survey and pipe locating services, the results were marked directly onto the surface with paint and flags, and we were able to let the contractor know were all of the underground utilities ran. Our accurate utility locating services allowed the contractor to perform their trenching safely and without any damages to the structure or job site crew.
Using both GPR utility scanning and underground pipe locator technologies simultaneously, it greatly reduced the project timeline by avoiding excessive hand digging operations to find unknown utilities.
