Underground Utility Locating for Soil Borings
Encompass Inspections was contacted by a environmental contractor to perform sub surface utility locating prior to the contractor drilling multiple site borings. The well drilling company needed to avoid damaging any existing underground utilities.
How We Responded
The technician was dispatched from Encompass Inspections office and arrived on site in Pennsylvania and was able to meet the demands of the project schedule. Once a project scope of work site walk was completed with the project manager for the Environmental Remediation contractor, Encompass Inspections set out to locate and paint out all of the existing sub surface utilities.
Results We Delivered
The utility locator revealed existing electrical conduits, gas pipes, sanitary sewer, storm drains and water lines underground within the proposed excavation area by utilizing a Radio Detection 7000 Utility Locator and Ground Penetrating Radar survey. Upon completing the underground utility scan, the findings were marked directly onto the surface allowing the drillers to perform their digging safely and without any damage to the utility lines.
Using both GPR imaging and pipe locator technologies simultaneously, it greatly reduced the project costs by allowing the project to be accurately scanned for all utilities. The detection of underground utilities allowed for the site to be completed in safe manner, with zero damages to the underground infrastructure.
