Utility Locate for Empty conduit
Encompass Inspections was contacted by a local commercial builder needing to locate a buried empty electrical conduit. The conduit had been cut while plumbing was being installed. The concrete was poured over the plumbing and cut conduit and the contractor did not know the exact location of the severed conduit.
How We Responded
A Technician was dispatched from Encompass Inspections Midwest office and arrived on the jobsite in Bloomingdale, IL within 24 hours of the project request. Once a jobsite walk was completed with the project manager, Encompass Inspections set out to identify and mark out the existing empty electrical conduit in question.
Results We Delivered
The underground locator revealed existing empty conduit that ran from the side of the building approximately 30 feet to the end of the conduit run by utilizing RD7000 Utility Locator and Ground Penetrating Radar. Upon completing the Underground Utility Locating, the results were marked directly onto the surface allowing the excavator to perform their digging safely and without any damage to the structure or job site personnel.
Finding the location, origination and ending points of the conduit helped the contractor to identify the proper conduit needing repair and save on costly excavation and sawcutting in the wrong areas.
